Typecasts In Exile: Day 328 – Improvements in Sonic Environment

Well, not really a TYPECAST since I HAVE NO TYPEWRITER, so apologies for that deception but I liked the title so live with it, Dear Hearts, I beg. Trapped in the liminal NO-CHAMBER of cinderblock cell #11, cowering in the cool breeze of a wall unit condenser from the cruel jailer Sol outside, I tap the uninspiring little black squares in the blue glow of a constricted laptop screen. The condenser screams like a juicer deprived of his Liquid Death as it struggles to make cool air out of the superheated plasma that swirls outside – a sound my cheap Bluetooth earbuds have been unable to eliminate with the stock silicone buds installed. No good seal to be had to block out the noise and properly render enveloping sound.

For awhile I have wondered if anyone made earbud fittings from the sort of expanding foam rubber that earplugs are made of, and if they would be better than the stock fittings. In this time, if one can imagine a thing, there is likely an example of it for sale on the intertubes – and this was no exception. A quick search and a set of such which looked like they would install on my earbuds were procured. I am here to tell you they made a *marked* improvement in the ear canal seal! I can block out the Blue Room and listen to The Orb’s Blue Room instead!

And that is what I’m doing. Driven nearly mad by juicer whine for the past weeks, I can finally spend my days in Stillness or a Stormy Night. My mental state will improve as much as the mental state of a Typewriter Man with no typewriter *can* improve. And no HOME! Our most generous overbids have been swept aside repeatedly by coked-up investors with crazy cash money snipes, and we have set our hearts on Dinosaur Gardens and Forested Vistas and Swank Miniature Horse Properties only to have our dreams stuffed in the lockers of GREED. These WEEKEND ROMANCES with houses I can’t seem to secure in the hand is wearying. I NEED the soothing chill in my head to fight the despair of the IN-BETWEEN, and now I have it. Praise Jeebus and the inventive mind of man!
