I, ehm, well… HAVE FUN!! You’re never too old to have fun. ;-)
I’ve been cleaning my house for the past few months. After four years, it seemed to time to start unpacking and utilizing the second floor’s space. As I did so, I began uncovering trinkets and props from KoL Cons, my Traveling Trader cosplays, and a whole slew of things from Secret Society Wars including the shirt I won for the costume contest, a “Visit Earth” shirt, a Dorsal Bros. Security shirt (with the sillouette of the security shark on the back.) Even the various society buttons. Good times. Even a “stolen passport” and other goofy items (which I can bring you if you wanted one of them for your personal collection.)
I remember the first Con I visited I had the time of my life. I was younger, still breaking my feet onto new soil. Each new Con though felt a little off though, as if I was missing something. I thought maybe I was just getting “too old for this shit” as one might say. However, It’s Con XI. The 11. The number of numbers and after some thinking I realized I just didn’t get older, but everyone has gotten older. We may not party as hard but I don’t doubt we couldn’t have just as much fun. We’re still the same people. More experienced, for sure, but deep down inside we still have a place for that silly little stick figure game. I don’t know if I’ll be seeing another side of Con past this one, but my tickets are bought and my debts are paid.
I’m glad I decided to peek inside your display case for fun and found your web link. If anything, it gave me a chance to reach out to you. If you can’t handle the big wacky that is Con, I’d hope to at least get a chance to stop by and say hello. I’ll be in town Thursday-Tuesday. My sister lives in town too, so I’ll be meandering all over in the rental.
I know what you mean by “each Con feeling more off”, but I suspect that’s just because there have been more and more people showing up that I don’t know (but who know me, or at least the avatar I represent in-game). Of course, there’s a big difference between 20 people showing up for 1 night to have Jick grill burgers for us (Con 1) and several hundred showing up to ransack the town in dozens of locations over the span of a week or more (the last half-dozen or so), so I guess ya gotta roll with the times.
I’ll most likely show up at a few of the Clan house parties, as I usually do – maybe even the poker game, assuming my face gets me in without a ticket. Let me know what house you’ll be at and I’ll see if I can sneak into the party :D
