The fire hydrants here are tall and red, and usually have a little reflector attached to a metal stick about 3 feet tall on the top. This is so you can find them when they’re covered in snow. I’m used to short, yellow ones that got painted to look like colonial soldiers back around 1976, and later painted by community groups by vote until they stopped that nonsense in the late 80’s and painted them all yellow again so firemen could find them easier. At least the country’s 200th birthday was a fun party – seems like the 250th was kind of a squib.
