  1. Seeing that typewriter reminds me of a story. I lived next to a local museum not too long ago, it used to be the original church. Well they opened it up for a special occasion one day so I went inside; They had this massive Underwood typewriter from the 20’s on a table, with a double-wide carrage & in really rough condition! Naturally, it had jammed typebars like the one in the picture from the previous guests. I’m inspecting it, seeing just how bad of condition it was in, when this old lady walks up to me. “You know, little kids such as yourself shouldn’t be playing with things they know nothing about, you could break it.” I then proceded to tell her everything I knew about Underwood typewriters, how old this machine was, various factoids about it, & how I’d go about fixing it. All the while she just stood there with her mouth agape, shocked the “little kid” actually knew what he was doing, & even knew more than her! Then she just walked away after a bit, leaving me with the Underwood again.
