Typecasts in Exile: Heavyweight Stationery Paper Monster Truck Mashup – Matte Claycoat vs Construction/Packing Paper







Well, not much of a contest, really. I am charmed by the natural color and cloth-like hand feel of the construction/packing paper, it still ghosts what’s on the other side of the page despite how thick it is, and the ink absorbtion/spread and color darkening is not really acceptable for the inkjet print. Also not especially good for typewriting.
Contrariwise, the 160gs/m soft matte clay coat paper has astonishing retention of print detail, vibrant color reproduction and instant-dry properties with inkjet and typewriter ink. It also has an otherworldly, silky hand-feel and stiffness-wise lands halfway between a 24# business paper and 80# business card stock. It’s freakin’ magical.
