At Type-Ins, the photographer gets pictures of the tops of people’s heads, bowed before the typewriters. Excuse any focus issues, please – I for some reason thought that it would be fun to bring a camera with an all-manual 55mm prime lens, so in the venue I had to shoot with the aperture wide open, so very thin focus range. :D
Brian and Kristy, grading the Speed Typing contest results.
I brought 2 Olympia SM3’s, and skinned one, so people could see how the insides dance around when they type. It inspired *someone*, as I found the below near the machine after the event.
It was epic fun for us! Much kudos to Brian and Kristy for setting it up. Luckily I kept an eye on the Royal Mercury, but am glad it inspired you to do yours up as well.
Such a great time.
And 100% understand the social battery drain.
After I got home I realized I was being kind of “extra”. But it was just so exciting to hang with my fellow freaks. And people actually willing to hear me gush.
Thanks Everyone for abiding, humoring, and engaging with me. You are all so lovely.
One thing that really struck me was the variety of machines everyone brought; seemed like a little of everything! Thanks for the report Mr. Munk. I think you did mighty fine with that manual 55mm. :) -Mitchell F.
Yeah – I really like the color tone of that Hanimex 55mm, but I keep forgetting that on a crop-sensor, it might as well be an 80mm telephoto. I got real intimate shots, and yet stood so far away from everything.
Oh what fun! Your Type-Ins in Phoenix are always epic! Sorry we missed it this year.
We missed you! (and Gregory, but he’s coming by later).. (:

Beauty shots of typewriters and scalps! I should have been there with my fellow bald guys.
You would always be welcome (:
What a crowd! Thanks for documenting the happy chaos. I’m just starting to listen to the podcast interview with Duane Jensen – so interesting.
Yar – very interesting project!
Clap clap clap !!!
So much fun! Great pics as well. Shocked to see my face up close in a single photo. Snagged it for an updated work profile pic.
Now you’ve done it. Added your blog to the Typosphere blogroll.. (:
I really should use it more.
Great turn out.
