My new to me 1964 Hermes 3000 looks like it says S 6 on the type slugs. Looks like a pretty plain Pica to my eyes. Anyone know for sure what the code represents?
I’m a volunteer on a project to digitize index cards in an archive that seems to have been filled in with Hermes “Economic” and Hermes “Bulletin” typefaces. Unfortunately, OCR recognition of the typrd text so far has not been very successful because it doesn’t recognize these typefaces very well. So, I’m on the quest of finding text (like the Type Style pages ypu posted here) in very high scanning quality (and/or as high-resolution photo) so that I can build a TTF font that can be used to train the OCR software.
Would you be so kind and send me these pages in such a high-resilution format (or the non-scaled version of the pages shown here)?
This one’s a bit different than the one that came with one of my H3k typewriters. There is no Epoca.
You should scan that. What year?

^Sorry, meant 1962
S TP = Techno Pica
S TE = Techno Elite
S PP = Petit Pica
S DE = Director Elite
S DP = Director Pica
S NO = Epoca
S 6 = Pica
S 7 = Elite
S6 on a Hermes is the common 10cpi pica typeface
Cheers,
Oliver
Thanks Oliver! I also just got a Hermes Rocket with an S 7 on the slugs which I concur with your note above that it matches to a plain old elite.
Except that Elite is a metric pitch that is different than a 12 cpi found in the USA.

Your help would be greatly appreciated.
What you see is the best I have.
